Fedellos Cortezada

One of the most majestic looking vineyards of the always impressive Ribeira Sacra zone. Cortezada lies just outside of the town of O Couto, on the southern bank of the River Sil, it wraps itself around an amphitheater-like curve in the mountain side, with the vines planted in terraced rows running across the slope. The wine produced here from Mencia grown on gneiss and schist is lifted, pure and bright, not as profoundly mineral as Lomba dos Ares but still one of the most compelling Mencia's we've tasted from the region. It's also the ancestral vineyard of Fedellos member Luis Taboada, who's family owns an old farm house (which is now the Fedellos home base!) just down the road.
