A light bodied red, from vines with their toes in the ocean...
Forjas del Salnés’ Bastion de Luna is a blend of Caíño, Louriero Tinto and Espadiero, grown on very sandy soil in plots that are so close to the Atlantic Ocean that some of their roots are literally in salt water.
The wine has a slightly wild nose of herbs and graphite, with a whiff of sour cherry. It’s light bodied and underpinned by a lively acid line, sitting somewhere between cool climate Cabernet Franc and whole bunch Pinot.
Bastion de Luna is a reminder of what was potentially lost when red varieties were destroyed en mass in this region.
Sappy, vibrant and full of crunch. Bastion also works really well with a light chill on hot days
