A lush complex wine, and the youngest current release from La Rioja Alta.
Viña Alberdi comes from 40-year-old, organically farmed vineyards between Labastida and Redenzo, planted on chalk and clay. The wine was aged for one year in new American oak barrels, coopered in house by La Rioja Alta before being transferred to three year old barrels for a further three years.
Full of red currants, dried cigar, vanilla, toasted coconut and Asian spice, this ‘entry-level’ drop was rated the second best wine under $50 by American critic James Suckling.
