Dark cola, cocoa nib and bramble notes from original rootstock vines.
PF stands for Pie Franco, the Spanish term for a vine planted on its own, original roots. Juan Antonio also likes to mention that for him PF could mean 'Ponce Familia," a little nod to the fact that it's his brother and his father who farm these vines.
Ponce’s PF vineyard is nearly 80 years old and produces a savoury, intense wine. The fruit is lightly foot-stomped prior to fermentation and aged in old barrels. Despite the hands-off treatment, there’s a Nebbiolo-level tannin structure behind this wine.
