The archetype of the Bordeaux style produced in Haro.
Viña Arana is composed of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Mozuelo, from two vineyards in Rodenzo, El Palo and Las Monjas, at around 600 metres altitude. They were originally planted in 1973, on loam and limestone soils.
La Rioja Alta age the wine for three years in American oak and rack by hand every six months, using the traditional candle light method.
Bottled in July 2013, this Viña Arana shows dark cherry characters with a hint of balsamic. There are notes of dried citrus rind and cola, and licks of American oak characteristics: toffee and coconut.
