Intense, Burgundian, serious.
Pies descalzos roughly translates as ‘bare foot,’ acknowledging the farmers who once worked – in their bare feet – the soft white granitic sand in the Peña Caballera vineyard, where this wine comes from.
The site sits at around 800 metres altitude and is exposed to the flatter land in the east, making it both a spectacular looking plot and slightly more Mediterranean than the other Gredos vineyards.
The result is a complex, delicious and very mineral white. Whereas Picarana shows the gentler side of Albillo, Piesdescalzos is intense, Burgundian and serious, with long acid, crunchy fruit and decadent texture.
