Incredible expression of Dona Blanca that rivals the complexity of any wine in the old world
'Las Vidres' comes from a single vineyard in the Arribes del Duero region, planted with Dona Blanca. It is in the village of Villadepera which is the northern most village in Arribes. Arribes itself is a relatively new wine region (achieved DO status in 2007). It is where the Duero becomes the Douro carving the deep valley between Spain and Portugal.
The vineyard is a 0.6 ha, south-facing and planted at 850m absl on grey and white slate, that is rich in mica. Vine age ranges from 80-90 years old.
The grapes are all hand-harvested and fermented using indigenous yeasts and aged in a combination of 228L and 350L used French oak barrels for 12 months.
