Rich fruit and dried herbs mingling with vineyard-specific notes of violets and crushed rock.
Cuvee Juan Padilla was named in honour of Rafa Bernabé’s friend, a widely-known and respected potter in Alicante who crafts the traditional clay amphora that have been used as fermenting vessels around the Mediterranean for centuries.
The wine is 100% Monastrell, grown organically in the vineyard known as Finca Usaldon, perched high on the mesa at some 700 metres altitude.
Cuvee Juan has all the rich fruit, dried herb and cigar tannin that one would expect from old vine Mediterranean Monastrell, alongside more vineyard-specific notes of violets and crushed rock. It’s fermented and aged exclusively in Juan Padilla’s amphora and bottled only in magnums.
