A delicious, intense picture of the Montsant highlands.
Vinya Goretti is the first of what Celler Comunica hope will become a range of single vineyard wines from special old sites dotted around the Montsant highlands.
This particular patch is made up of 70-80 year old Carenyena (Carignan/Samso) vines, planted on Calcareous clay and sandy granite just beyond the town of Marca. It’s a spectacular site that runs along a clifftop at the southern entrance to the Priorat, with sweeping views to the villages of Gratallops and Torreja in the north west.
The wine itself is dark, savoury and meaty, true to the powerful and rustic nature of the local Carenyena. As with all of Comunica's wines, the underlying theme here is freshness and mouthfeel among the blackberry, bramble and resinous notes of old vine Carenyena. It’s a delicious and much more intense picture of Montsant than the one shown by La Peluda.
