A lush complex wine, and the youngest current release from La Rioja Alta.
Viña Alberdi comes from 40-year-old vineyards between Labastida and Redenzo, planted on chalk and clay. The wine was aged for two years in American oak and finished in three-year-old barrels, before aging in bottle until release in 2017.
Full of red currants, dried cigar, vanilla, toasted coconut and Asian spice, this ‘entry-level’ drop was rated the second best wine under $50 by American critic James Suckling.
