An old vine village blend from several of Quinta Milú's sites.
La Cometa, or the Kite, contains declassified parts of several single vineyard sites around the town of La Aguilera. With an average vine age of over 70 years, altitudes of 800 to 930 metres and parcels of fruit from vineyards like Bellavista and Valdevicente, La Cometa represents an impressive amount of serious Ribera del Duero quality for the price tag.
Gently foot-trodden and fermented with indigenous yeasts in clay pots and old barrels, La Cometa shows denser blackberry and blueberry fruit and more pronounced structure than the entry-level Milú, yet carries the hallmarks of German’s style: freshness and restrained use of wood. It’s deft, rather than powerful.
